The Art:21 New York Close Up documentary series just released a video on Erin Shirreff.
Shirreff transforms the experience of looking at photos. She invites viewers to linger on a single photo. Each photo has multiple still images – each image a different perspective or manipulation – and all placed into a video stream.

This is a really fascinating study of perception, and for me, highlighted the process with which anyone, artist or not, takes in a setting. The way she highlighted the foreground, background, etc. as well as playing with mood and lighting techniques drew my attention all over an image that to me was previously pretty straightforward and flat and gave it any energy and dynamism which did not exist before. Its kind of like her work is many ‘details’ overlapping each other in one continuous stream.
